Adjunct Faculty - Nursing

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. Location: Crown Point, IN Pay: $47.35 per classroom hour Schedule: Day, Evening, and Weekend classes may be available depending on course schedule. Major Responsibilities: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes; Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements; Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook; Submits requested information within established timelines. STUDENTS: Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues. INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s); Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate; In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair; Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views; Promote same as an integral part of one's work. Fully supports the College's mission and strategic plan initiatives. Education, Experience And Other Requirements: For Practical Nursing (PN) Program Faculty: • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required. • A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) is preferred for lead/lecture faculty. • Must hold a current, unencumbered RN license. • Two years of direct patient care experience required. For Nursing (ASN, PN, or LPN-to-RN Programs): • A Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) is preferred. • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the minimum, if the instructor is currently enrolled in a graduate program in nursing and making progress toward completion. • Must hold a current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license (or a compact state license recognized in Indiana). • At least two years of direct patient care experience as a registered nurse. • Clinical teaching assignments may require specific expertise in the specialty area (e.g., pediatrics, med-surg, OB, psych/mental health).
