Remote Full-time
Duke University: Duke University was created in 1924 through an indenture of trust by James Buchanan Duke. Today, Duke is regarded as one of America’s leading research universities. Located in Durham, North Carolina, Duke is positioned in the heart of the Research Triangle, which is ranked annually as one of the best places in the country to work and live. Duke has more than 15,000 students who study and conduct research in its 10 undergraduate, graduate and professional schools. With about 40,000 employees, Duke is the third largest private employer in North Carolina, and it now has international programs in more than 150 countries. Be You. Be Bold. Choose Duke. Be You. At Duke, we celebrate individuality and the unique perspectives that each member of our community brings. As the International Application Reader, you’ll be a vital part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team in the Office of International Enrollment Management (IEM), supporting students from diverse backgrounds as they pursue academic opportunities at Duke Kunshan University. This part-time, seasonal role offers a meaningful way to contribute to Duke’s global mission while working independently in a flexible, remote setting. Be Bold. Join a team that’s shaping the future of international education. As an International Application Reader, you’ll help identify and support exceptional students from around the world. What You’ll Do: • Review and evaluate student applications for admission to Duke Kunshan University using established admissions standards. • Submit assessments and evaluations to the IEM staff. • Index supplemental application materials and participate in credential evaluation as needed. • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all aspects of the role. • Work independently, managing time effectively and meeting deadlines during peak season (mid-November or mid-December through mid-March, averaging 20 hours/week). What You’ll Bring: • Prior experience reading applications for highly-selective institutions (preferred). • Strong communication, analytical, decision-making, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work under pressure and respond to feedback. • Proficiency with computer systems and adaptability to new software. • Access to a computer and high-speed internet in a quiet, private location. • Commitment to confidentiality and independent work. • Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Please Note: Due to university policy, hourly staff must reside in North Carolina. We cannot consider applicants who are: • Parents/guardians/siblings of high school juniors or seniors. • College admission professionals (e.g., high school counselors, independent consultants). • Employees or volunteers at other undergraduate institutions. Choose Duke. Be part of a university that values bold thinking, global engagement, and inclusive excellence. Your work will help shape the next generation of global leaders.
