About the position As Counsel in the Global Litigation & Competition team at Visa, you will manage and support a diverse range of litigation and pre-litigation matters while providing legal advice to various business units. This role involves developing case strategies, managing outside counsel, and coordinating discovery processes, among other responsibilities. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that Visa navigates legal challenges effectively and maintains compliance with relevant laws. Responsibilities • Develop case strategy in partnership with business units and drive resolution of litigation disputes. • Manage outside counsel and oversee litigation processes. • Review and approve pleadings and motions, and attend court hearings and depositions. • Coordinate discovery, including collection and production of documents. • Provide legal advice to business functions on a wide variety of pre-litigation issues arising from business-as-usual activities. • Keep Visa management and business units apprised of litigation developments and strategy. Requirements • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD. • Admitted to practice law in the United States and in good standing. • Experience in all phases of litigation and experience with antitrust/competition law and e-discovery preferred. • Strong analytical, problem-solving and writing skills. • Demonstrated leadership skills and strategic focus. • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of management and across business functions. Nice-to-haves • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD. • 4-7 years full-time employment in top-tier law firm or in-house environment. • Current member in good standing of a State Bar with the ability to become barred or a registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located.
