Epidemiologist (CalConnect) - Remote

About the position Responsibilities • Assists with planning, designing, and conducting analyses related to case investigation and contact tracing activities implemented within CalCONNECT. • Performs formal evaluation studies of CalCONNECT capabilities to guide programmatic workflows and future system enhancements. • Designs, implements, and maintains complex data sets. • Provides training, technical assistance, and consultative services regarding epidemiology and analysis of CalCONNECT data to system end users. • Develops policies and standard operating procedures for analysis of CalCONNECT data. • Prepares technical and non-technical summaries of work, scientific reports, and manuscripts. • Performs various other duties in support of section operations. Requirements • Master's degree in public health or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field. • Experience conducting research on epidemiology of infectious diseases. • Strong understanding of design and implementation of research and epidemiologic studies. • Possess strong data management and analysis skills. • Organizational skills demonstrating high attention to detail and the ability to organize multiple priorities. • Strong interpersonal skills required for teamwork and interaction with people across CDC and with external partners. • Knowledge of SAS, SPSS, STATA, or other statistical software. • Proficiency in writing comprehensive statistical and analytical reports. • Excellent written and oral communications. • Ability to work effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment. Nice-to-haves • Experience with data visualization (e.g., Tableau) is preferred. • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ArcGIS) is preferred. • Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and engaging in strategic partnerships.
