About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and passionate English/Reading Tutor to join our team, specializing in ACT/SAT preparation. As a tutor with Huntington Learning Center, you will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with high school students, guiding them towards achieving their academic goals. This is a part-time position that offers flexible hours, allowing you to choose your schedule and work at times that suit you best, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and summers. Key Responsibilities Work closely with students in a 1:1 setting to prepare them for ACT/SAT exams, focusing on English and Reading comprehension Utilize our proven instructional programs to create personalized learning plans tailored to each student's needs and learning style Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students build confidence and improve their academic performance Collaborate with our team of educators to share best practices and stay updated on the latest developments in ACT/SAT preparation Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this role, you should possess: A Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field Certification or licensure in teaching is highly preferred, but not required Experience in tutoring or teaching, particularly in ACT/SAT preparation, is essential Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles A caring and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to the success and well-being of your students Preferred Qualifications Recent graduates, current teachers, and retired professionals are all encouraged to apply Experience with curriculum development, educational technology, or test prep materials is a plus Familiarity with Huntington Learning Center's programs and methods is desirable, but not required Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you should possess: Strong knowledge of English grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension strategies Excellent instructional and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to individual learning styles Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude, with a focus on building student confidence and motivation Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple students Basic computer skills and familiarity with digital learning platforms Career Growth and Development At Huntington Learning Center, we are committed to the growth and development of our team members.
