Are you a certified outpatient medical coding auditor with experience in surgical coding, emergency department (ED) coding, interventional radiology, or facility outpatient services? We are expanding and seeking experienced Remote Outpatient Facility Coding Auditors to support our national client base. Position Summary As a Remote Outpatient Coding Auditor, you’ll conduct quality assurance audits on coded outpatient medical records. Your audits will focus on multiple service areas including: • Outpatient Surgeries • Observations • Interventional Radiology • Cardiac Catheterization • Ancillary Services • Emergency Department (ED/EM) • Injections & Infusions You’ll play a key role in ensuring coding accuracy, compliance with official guidelines, and educating coders through actionable feedback. Key Responsibilities • Perform internal audits on facility outpatient coding records to ensure accuracy and integrity. • Review codes assigned for complex services such as outpatient surgery, ED, cath lab, IR, and injections/infusions. • Ensure coding is in compliance with CMS, commercial payer guidelines, and official coding rules. • Provide detailed feedback and identify educational opportunities for coding teams. • Stay current with the ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and payer-specific changes. • Collaborate with internal leadership and quality teams to improve audit standards. Requirements • Required Credentials: CCS, RHIT, or COC (AHIMA or AAPC certified) • Experience: Minimum 3 years of recent experience in facility outpatient coding and auditing. • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of EHR/EMR systems; EPIC and Optum Encoder experience preferred. • Proficient in CMS guidelines, outpatient billing regulations, and documentation standards. • Strong analytical and written communication skills required. • Availability: Full-time preferred but part-time considered (20+ hours/week).
