Health Informatics Specialist - Veteran Health (Contingent Position)

The G2 Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Health Informatics Specialist with a strong background in serving veterans and military health. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of health informatics, data management, and healthcare systems, with a specific focus on the unique needs and challenges faced by veterans and military personnel. This role involves leveraging information technology to enhance healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, and streamline processes within the context of veterans and military health. Key Responsibilities: Health Informatics Expertise: • Utilize advanced knowledge of health informatics principles, standards, and practices to optimize the use of health information technology in the context of veterans and military health. Veterans and Military Health Understanding: • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare needs and challenges specific to veterans and military populations. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify and address unique healthcare requirements related to service-related injuries, mental health, and other conditions prevalent in this demographic. Data Management and Analysis: • Manage and analyze health data, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations. • Develop and implement strategies for effective data collection, storage, retrieval, and reporting, with a focus on improving healthcare outcomes for veterans and military personnel. Healthcare System Integration: • Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrators, and IT professionals to integrate health informatics solutions seamlessly into existing healthcare systems. • Facilitate interoperability between different systems to enhance the continuity and coordination of care for veterans and military health beneficiaries. Technology Implementation and Optimization: • Evaluate, implement, and optimize health information technologies, including electronic health records (EHRs), telehealth solutions, and other digital tools tailored to the needs of veterans and military health. User Training and Support: • Provide training and support to healthcare professionals on the effective use of health informatics tools, ensuring a smooth transition and adoption of new technologies. Quality Improvement Initiatives: • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, leveraging health informatics to identify areas for improvement, enhance patient safety, and optimize healthcare delivery for veterans and military personnel. Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) is preferred. • Proven experience in health informatics, with a focus on veterans and military health. • Familiarity with relevant healthcare regulations and standards. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and interdisciplinary team environment. Preferred Skills: • Certification in Health Informatics (e.g., Certified Health Informatician, CHI). • Experience with data analytics and business intelligence tools. • Knowledge of military and veteran healthcare systems. • Understanding of military culture and healthcare delivery within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Department of Defense (DoD).
