About This Role The Advisor, Compliance will join Climate Power’s Operations department leadership in supporting business operations for three entities—Climate Power, a 501(c)(4), Climate Power Education Fund, a 501(c)(3), and Climate Power Action, a 527 PAC. They will be an essential partner to the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Finance & Administration in evolving Climate Power’s legal and compliance functions following a period of rapid growth and ahead of the 2026 cycle. They will be deeply engaged in day-to-day workflows across the organization, and will serve as the organization’s in-house regulatory expert, advising on firewalls, legal approvals, and multi-entity best practices, while implementing strong compliance and risk management processes and frameworks. A successful candidate will have a legal or operational background in political and/or nonprofit organizations, with experience in how equity and inclusion can be infused throughout this work. They will be both detail-oriented and able to understand the big picture, fast-paced, and deftly build relationships to facilitate working in deep partnership with multiple stakeholders across the organization. Responsibilities - Manage the organization’s overall risk and compliance within a complex multi-entity environment, in coordination with legal counsel - Provide trainings, guidance, and approvals that support compliance and legal concerns for multiple concurrent rapid-response paid media and issue advocacy campaigns - Develop and manage processes to ensure appropriate controls for external and public communications and materials - Establish and oversee the organization’s brand and political risk strategy, including scenario planning, in partnership with organizational leadership and in consideration of competing dynamics - Lead PAC compliance, including staffing, finances, record-keeping, and oversight of reporting in collaboration with an outside vendor - Drive regulatory compliance, working with outside vendors and the Finance & Administration team to ensure that the organization is meeting all IRS and FEC guidelines and restrictions, and charitable registration status is maintained in relevant states - Oversee insurance policies to mitigate institutional risk and coordinate with legal counsel to manage liability, where needed - Advise on development, implementation, and monitoring of cybersecurity risk management, in partnership with outside IT vendor, Finance & Administration, and Chief of Staff teams Additional responsibilities may be assigned as need and capacity dictates. Essential Qualifications - 8 years of relevant prior work experience in nonprofit or political setting - 5 years of people and/or project management experience - Experience with multi-entity operations and compliance, including 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC organizations - Ability to communicate complex legal information to outside audiences - Strong discernment and decision-making abilities; understands when to raise questions or issues and comfort in doing so - Must be able to work independently, but also collaboratively with diverse groups of people, communities, and partners - Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities with minimal supervision - Strong people skills and exceptional team player - Takes initiative, is creative and resourceful - Willingness to stay up to date on best practices and trends relative to the work and projects in their purview - Proficiency in Google Workspace. Desired Qualifications - Experience with FEC and/or PAC reporting - Familiarity with PAC disclaimers and legal requirements - Interest in climate justice is a plus!
