Job Summary
We're looking for an experienced Advisory AWS Automation Engineer to provide technical leadership and direction for our AWS automation initiatives. As an Advisory Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in mentoring team members, consulting with development teams, and driving organizational maturity in AWS technologies. You will be responsible for defining standards and patterns for leveraging AWS services, leading automation efforts, and ensuring Security-by-Design principles are integrated into every workload deployed into AWS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and design expertise for AWS Foundations integration and automation
- Define standards and patterns for efficiently leveraging AWS services, including when and how to use them
- Lead automation efforts using Ansible or CloudFormation to support acceleration of application deployments into AWS
- Develop frameworks to enable development teams to consume authorized AWS services
- Ensure Security-by-Design principles are integrated into every workload deployed into AWS
- Perform cost-benefit analysis to determine best system architectures
- Mentor team members to drive organizational maturity in AWS technologies
- Consult with development teams to ensure platform fit aligned to business application requirements
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in cloud computing, with a focus on AWS technologies
- Strong technical skills in AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and CloudFormation
- Experience with automation tools, such as Ansible or CloudFormation
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor team members and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in cloud computing, with a focus on AWS technologies
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks, such as AWS Well-Architected Framework and NIST Cybersecurity Framework
- Certifications in AWS technologies, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
