Job Description: The financial controller oversees the companys overall financial health. This position maintains, manages, and analyzes financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues, and the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and staff accountants to ensure quality input and analysis is performed at all levels of the accounting department. Roles & Responsibilities: Compliance 1. Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions, including tax planning and compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Promote and maintain a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards for all employees. Implement accounting and financial policies, procedures, and processes to ensure the companys financial health is preserved. Duties/Responsibilities 1. Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk. Coordinates accounting staff for monthly closing procedures and ensures these are done in a timely manner. Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Financial Accounting Standards Board, or International Accounting Standards Board. Ensures accounting policies and procedures comply with all applicable loan covenants. Creates/implements/maintain systems of internal controls. Coordinates with CFO the creation of the annual budget; reports monthly variances to CFO. Communicates with external auditors and provides needed information for annual audit. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements. Ensures sales tax payable is computed, paid, and posted accurately. Evaluates accounting schedules and accruals to be accurate and provides recommendations for adjustments annually. Provides input and milestones for quarterly and annual accounting goals. Leads monthly financial preparation for CFO. Ensures balance sheet schedules are created and maintained, month to month. Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements: 1. Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration required. Ten years or more of related experience required.
