About the position
Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board. Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses. Virginia Western, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for dynamic, adult-learning oriented, exceptional part-time Corporate & Professional Training Adjunct Faculty in the School of Career & Corporate Training (CCT) to design, develop, and implement innovative, cutting-edge, customized corporate and professional training programs for our diverse clients who are positioned in a cross-sectioning of the economic landscape we serve.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and implement corporate and professional training programs.
• Deliver instructional content online, on campus, or at corporate client sites.
• Motivate participants using experiential learning strategies.
• Utilize current technology for course design and development.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Assist in the refinement and customization of existing programs.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Adult Education, Business Administration, Business Management, Educational & Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related discipline.
• Minimum of three years in industry training, corporate training, or community college teaching.
• Demonstrated history of instructional design and delivery.
• Ability to effectively communicate with participants from diverse backgrounds.
• Mastery of adult learning principles.
• Ability to deliver programs on client sites.
Nice-to-haves
• Master's degree in a related discipline.
