They are seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis for transportation infrastructure projects, while also inspecting related activities and overseeing subsurface investigations.
Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation infrastructure projects for both public and private clients
- Inspect geotechnical exploratory and construction related activities
- Develop as well as perform oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering
- Working knowledge of soil mechanics theory and laboratory testing techniques
- Engineer-In-Training certificate
- Willingness and flexibility to travel for work
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills including CADD, Microsoft Office
- Driver's license and reliable vehicle will be required
- 0 - 2 years' design experience in a consulting/contracting environment
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering beneficial but not required
- At least a 3.0 GPA
- MS degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
- Previous internship in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems
- Familiarity with geotechnical analysis programs (e.g Ensoft APile, LPile and Group, GeoStudio Slope/Rocscience SLIDE, GRLWeap, DeepEx, Bentley gINT/Openground, and AutoCAD)
- Python programming and application of AI and ML in civil engineering applications would be an added advantage
