Job Summary
We are looking for a full-time Preschool Teacher who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and supervising preschool-age children, motivating them to be creative, develop a love of learning, and feel emotionally and physically safe. You will develop a partnership with families to best serve the children's needs and create a nurturing environment that promotes learning and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover age-appropriate teaching materials and activities
- Use reflective teaching practices to create a lesson plan that includes the use of CT Early Learning Development Standards (ELDS)
- Provide basic care and caregiving activities
- Use a wide range of teaching methods (play, stories, media, outdoor games, art, music, etc.) to enhance the child's abilities
- Implement classroom management strategies that guide children's behavior in a positive manner
- Establish and maintain daily communication with parents, as well as parent conferences, updates on curriculum, and special classroom events
- Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and special events as needed
- Provide documentation of Professional Development each year of at least twenty hours
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Knowledge of child growth and development and appropriate practices
- The ability to plan and implement age-appropriate educational programming
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be available to work during operating hours of 7:00 am - 6:00 pm (full-time)
- Complete background checks, physical, and TB test prior to starting
- Be knowledgeable of OEC licensing regulations and requirements
- Complete Care 4 Kids orientation requirement within 3 months of hire
- Have reliable transportation and be able to report in inclement weather
- Be able to maintain open communication with children, families, and co-workers
Preferred qualifications include:
- CDA or Associate's Degree in ECE
- OEC Head Teacher certificate
- Prior center-based experience working with young children
