Key Responsibilities
As a Book Buddy Site Coordinator, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and facilitating tutoring programming to ensure the successful implementation of program components
- Coordinating schedules for services with school building and calendar to ensure seamless execution
- Advocating for adequate space or implementation of the programming to ensure optimal learning environments
- Recruiting students for programming using BCSC Student Selection processes to ensure diverse participation
- Providing organization and communication with community members for student/program services for the elementary site to foster strong relationships
- Serving as a liaison between parents and school, including handling written communication (letters) to families to ensure effective communication
- Testing students bi-weekly to monitor student/program success and identify areas for improvement
- Overseeing site compliance to the Book Buddy budget to ensure responsible financial management
- Attending monthly training and professional development meetings to stay updated on best practices and industry trends
- Monitoring assessments and submitting program, site, and student reports of the program as required to ensure accountability and transparency
- Providing leadership for establishing student services to ensure comprehensive support for students
- Providing visible support/motivation to elementary site building staff and families to foster a positive and inclusive environment
- Establishing a positive school climate and orderly classroom/program space for volunteers participating in programming to ensure a productive and respectful atmosphere
- Communicating regularly with building staff to ensure on-going program success and academic alignment to state standards and classroom instruction to ensure seamless integration
- Concluding the school/program year with detailed book inventory and classroom exit inventory to ensure efficient closure and preparation for future programs
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong passion for education and community engagement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Proven experience in program coordination and management, preferably in an educational setting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals
- Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to advocate for adequate space and resources to ensure optimal learning environments
- Knowledge of BCSC Student Selection processes and procedures
- Familiarity with state standards and classroom instruction to ensure academic alignment
