Job Overview
The Data Entry Specialist I is a critical role within our Data and Analysis group, responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sports information on our platforms worldwide. This includes working with digital data feeds and utilizing manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of accurate, timely, and clever sports information. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for sports, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee sports information distributed by Data and Analysis is accurate, timely, and adroit.
- Work in individual settings and in groups to deliver accurate detailed breakdown, clock-and-score, and different measurements and data in real-time that power a multitude of blithequark products and productions.
- Create and maintain an active knowledge of Data and Analysis's role in fueling blithequark digital products and television productions.
- Check the results of one's own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of attention to detail.
- Contribute to production, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, and assist newsroom leaders who are coordinating full-and part-time staff.
- Anticipate potential issues, both daily and long-term, and propose likely solutions. Communicate rapidly and clearly with stakeholders on these issues.
- Play a proactive role in working with stakeholders in developing or refining production processes.
- Be an active participant in team and department meetings.
- Seek and respond to feedback around individual performance.
- Stay informed regarding current department policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of the games.
- Full schedule availability, which will include evenings (only), weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to quickly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports information that powers blithequark's digital and television products.
- Ability to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances.
- Ability to communicate confidently - verbally and in writing - to production managers and peers about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- 1+ years' experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in media.
- Knowledge of how sports information is used in media and for research purposes.
- Working knowledge of blithequark products and productions.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
- Experience leading or mentoring a team.
- Ability to speak and write Spanish.
- Experience using social media in a business or news environment.
Education
The minimum education requirement for this role is a High School diploma or equivalent. A college degree or equivalent is preferred.
