Job Summary: Supporting Student Learning and Development
The HQ Paraprofessional will provide instructional support and assistance to students, teachers, and staff in various educational settings. This role involves working one-on-one with students, in small groups, and in classroom environments to reinforce learning materials and skills introduced by teachers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Key Responsibilities: Enhancing Student Experience and Academic Achievement
- Instructional Support: Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning materials and skills introduced by teachers, both in the classroom and developmental center.
- Playground Supervision: Supervise students during outdoor activities, such as lunch, recess, and before/after school.
- Testing and Assessment: Assist with administering tests and assessments, as well as grading papers and maintaining records under teacher supervision.
- Communication and Translation: Translate materials and information for parents, students, and staff, as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date files and computer records.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising instructor or administrator.
Requirements and Qualifications: A Commitment to Excellence
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree or 60 college credits, and one (1) year of childcare work experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that meet the standards of Highly Qualified status for No Child Left Behind will also be considered.
- Bilingual Skills: Bilingual candidates are preferred.
- Fingerprint Clearance: Must obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of needs of students at different ages, educational and developmental levels.
- Knowledge of district educational policies, regulations, and rules.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and rules.
- Knowledge of educational practices, processes, and techniques.
- Skill in assessing student's educational needs.
- Skill in providing tutoring in various educational subjects and areas.
- Skill in operating office equipment and computer hardware and software applications.
- Skill in communicating orally and in writing.
- Skill in translating and interpreting.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
