Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated international freight forwarding professional to join our team as an Ocean Product Development and Strategy Implementation expert. In this critical role, you will be responsible for supporting the growth of our ocean volumes, developing and implementing strategies to enhance our ocean product, and working closely with our sales, operations, and carrier management teams to drive business results. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in shaping our ocean freight strategy, identifying new opportunities, and optimizing our services to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to support the growth of ocean volumes, enhance the development of the ocean product, and improve our competitiveness in the market
- Work closely with the Managing Director of Ocean to support carrier development, pricing, and service analysis, as well as resolve carrier service issues
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to provide ocean subject matter expertise and support the development of new business opportunities
- Implement and communicate pricing programs, review volume targets, and assist in developing an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales and achieves account development and yield enhancement expectations
- Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction, working closely with the Managing Director, Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations
- Direct and indirect customer contact will be required, providing exceptional service and support to our customers
- Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity
- Manage annual budget, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
- Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong background in international freight forwarding, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, and prior ocean carrier experience is a plus. You will also need to be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and possess excellent communication and presentation skills, with a business-oriented mindset and remarkable business acumen.
