**Responsibilities**
As a Medical Data Entry Specialist, you'll be responsible for:
* Developing an assessment tool to evaluate the capacity of healthcare providers to deliver treatment to newcomer populations, including refugees and other immigrant groups.
* Collaborating with our team to update the state's healthcare inventory and extract relevant data for the Health Systems Capacity Project.
* Distributing the assessment tool to healthcare providers in Rhode Island and collecting returned data.
* Conducting research on comparable assessment approaches and consulting with experts to develop an effective capacity assessment tool.
* Identifying and selecting a digital database platform for collecting and analyzing data from healthcare providers.
* Utilizing the assessment tool to evaluate as many healthcare providers as possible through July 2025.
* Meeting regularly with Department of Human Services (DHS) staff to report on progress and strategize next steps.
* Analyzing collected data to draft a document outlining strengths and gaps within the Rhode Island healthcare landscape.
**Key Skills and Qualifications**
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
* Graduate-level studies in a community health care field, such as public health, health education, or healthcare administration.
* A strong understanding of the healthcare needs of culturally diverse populations and migrating communities.
* Research experience and proficiency in utilizing research databases, such as PubMed or Scopus.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
**Nice-to-Haves**
While not required, the following skills and qualifications would be an asset:
* Experience working with digital database platforms, such as REDCap or Tableau.
* Familiarity with healthcare data standards and regulations, such as HIPAA.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare providers and stakeholders.
