Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Statewide 988 Chat/Text Specialist to join our 24/7/365 high-volume, suicide prevention-focused team. As a vital member of this team, you will provide brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. This is a fully remote position, requiring you to live in the Middle Tennessee area, with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 4:30 pm-1 am, and Saturdays and Sundays off.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge and skill in providing telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments.
- Answer crisis contacts via Zoom contact center or the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to best meet individual needs.
- Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide.
- Meet the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation.
- Actively participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings.
- Demonstrate high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette.
- Promote a departmental culture of cooperation and collaboration with other cross-functional departments, community agencies, hospitals,wins, mental health consumers, and the public at large.
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
- Six months to one year of crisis experience is preferred.
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to communicate effectively through written communication/instant messaging.
- The ability to multi-task in a high-stress environment.
- Knowledge of suicide assessments and skill in providing crisis intervention.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience working in a trauma-informed organization or environment.
- Knowledge of community resources and services.
- Experience with crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
