About the position Responsibilities • Provide fiscal operations support for various funds and post-award research administration. • Review and maintain financial encumbrances in the general ledger. • Process financial journals and report default activity corrections. • Design and implement financial systems to enhance performance and outcomes. • Perform complex financial analysis and provide recommendations for resource use. • Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external contacts. • Support Principal Investigators with post-award research activities and clinical trials. • Assist with miscellaneous projects and tasks as assigned. Requirements • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training. • Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. • Ability to independently gather information and perform financial analysis assignments. • Proven ability to present information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. • Strong Excel skills including pivots, filtering, and advanced formulae. • Proven interpersonal skills and strong service orientation. • Ability to multi-task in a high volume environment and prioritize workload effectively. • Thorough understanding of internal control practices and research administration guidelines. Nice-to-haves • Experience with UCSD online and web-based accounting systems. • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience.
