Job Summary As a Freight and Package Handler at UPS, you'll be responsible for loading, unloading, and sorting packages in our warehouse facility. This is a hands-on role that requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. You'll work as part of a collaborative team to ensure packages are processed efficiently and accurately, and that customers receive their shipments on time. Key Responsibilities: Loading and Unloading Packages: Safely lift, lower, and move packages in and out of UPS trailers, trucks, and warehouse facilities. Sorting Packages: Accurately sort packages according to destination, using automated systems and manual processes. Operating Equipment: Use various equipment, such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and conveyor belts, to move and process packages. Maintaining a Safe Work Environment: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent injuries and ensure a safe working environment. Collaborating with Team Members: Work effectively with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives. Requirements and Qualifications: To succeed as a Freight and Package Handler at UPS, you'll need: Physical Ability: The ability to lift up to 70 lbs, with stamina to perform physically demanding tasks. Legal Right to Work: A valid work permit or legal right to work in the United States. Attention to Detail: An eye for detail to ensure accurate sorting and processing of packages. Reliability and Responsibility: A strong work ethic and commitment to being reliable and responsible. Good Work Shoes: A pair of sturdy, comfortable work shoes that meet safety standards. Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Previous Experience: Experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, particularly in a role involving manual labor or equipment operation. Industrial Truck and Tractor Operator: Experience operating industrial trucks, tractors, or other equipment. Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Driver: Experience driving heavy or tractor-trailer trucks. Class CDL Driver: Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
