Medical Support Assistant (Remote – Sheridan, WY)
Position Title: Medical Support Assistant (MSA)
Location: Sheridan, WY (Remote – U.S. Based)
Employment Type: 12-Month Contract (High Chances of Extension)
Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 6:00 pm (8-hour shift within business hours, excluding federal holidays)
Travel: May be required for fingerprints, PIV pick-up, or IT equipment from the nearest VA facility.
Position Summary
The Medical Support Assistant (MSA) provides vital administrative and scheduling support for Veterans receiving care through the Sheridan VA Health Care System. As the first point of contact for patients and providers, this role ensures efficient scheduling, accurate record management, and smooth communication to support timely access to care.

Key Responsibilities
• Schedule, reschedule, and manage patient appointments, including referrals and follow-ups.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, families, and providers via phone, email, and electronic systems.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
• Support telehealth appointments and assist patients with setup/troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with clinicians, nurses, and staff to ensure timely care delivery.
• Provide general clerical and reporting support for assigned departments.
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or GED required (Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of clerical, administrative, or customer service experience (healthcare preferred).
• Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, VistA, or similar) strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology desirable.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general administrative software.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.

Pay: From $21.79 per hour
