Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Follow-Up Representative to join our team on a full-time basis. As a key member of our medical billing team, you will be responsible for researching, resolving, and re-billing unpaid or partially paid medical charges that are on the Accounts Receivable (AR) list. This is a remote work opportunity, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home and enjoy a better work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and resolve unpaid or partially paid medical charges on the AR list, utilizing spreadsheets and technology to prioritize and resolve charges in bulk or individually.
- Meet or exceed productivity metrics for performance standards and target goals per account, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of billing issues.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with clients for day-to-day tactical interactions regarding billing issues, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Notify Managers of any systemic issues that impede efficient and effective payment of claims, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing delays.
- Utilize coding tools and terminology, including CCI edits, CPTs, ICD-10's, modifiers, HCPS, and other relevant coding standards.
- Adhere to all ClaimCare policies, procedures, governmental regulations, and HIPAA standards, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and data security.
- Maintain a consistent workday schedule (8:00am - 5:00pm CST, with lunch hour) and be available to assist with overtime requests as needed.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and experience:
- At least 3 years of direct experience in resolving unpaid or underpaid charges, with a strong understanding of various billing systems and MS Office Suite tools.
- Depth of knowledge with all Payer types, including Commercials, Medicare, Medicaid, and Workers' Compensation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations with ease.
- Strong mathematical and technology aptitudes, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
- A strong work ethic, with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow with the company.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the essential qualifications, we prefer candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Experience working in a medical billing or coding environment, with a strong understanding of coding standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in various billing systems, including Epic, Cerner, and Meditech.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex billing issues.
- Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
