Project overview: Industrial luxury display hardware
I am seeking an experienced Industrial Designer or Mechanical Engineer to create production-ready CAD files for two flagship display products for the Brixen Vault, a high-end collectables brand. The aesthetic is "Industrial Luxury" and "Brutalist". Think raw materials, sharp 90-degree angles, and significant physical presence.
The deliverables
Success for this project is defined by receiving "spot on" files for both a 3D resin printer and a local metal fabricator:
- The Brixen Monolith: An interlocking, flat-pack book stand designed for laser-cut steel or aluminium (potentially 3mm–5mm thickness).
- The Slab Monolith: A weighted, brutalist-style base for graded comic slabs (CGC/CBCS), featuring an internal cavity for added weight.
Technical requirements
The selected freelancer must provide the following file package:
- 3D Print Files (STL/OBJ): Optimised for high-resolution resin printing to create photo-ready prototypes.
- Engineering master (STEP/IGES): Parametric files for future material adjustments.
- Fabrication maps (DXF/DWG): 2D "unfolded" vector files for local laser-cutting and CNC bending.
- Technical blueprint (PDF): A clear, dimensioned drawing to guide a local Italian blacksmith.
Required skills & software
- Software: Must be proficient in SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, or Rhino 3D.
- Expertise: Deep understanding of Sheet Metal Design, Design for Manufacturing (DfM), and tolerances for interlocking parts.
- Aesthetic: Ability to translate "Brutalist" concepts into rigid, secure geometry with zero visible hardware.
Work style & expectations
- Milestone 1: Review of initial 3D renders and interlocking logic.
- Milestone 2: Delivery of 3D-printable STL files.
- Milestone 3: Final delivery of all fabrication files (DXF/STEP) and blueprints.
- Communication: I value proactive updates regarding potential delays or technical challenges.
