The IT Software Engineering intern will assist in providing computer software development, business analysis, data analytics, and technical support for IT operations while gaining valuable experience in a variety of IT projects.
Responsibilities
- Gathering requirements for development
- Design and testing of decision support systems
- Participation in the development, maintenance, enhancement and support of our software applications or infrastructure environments
- Create performance dashboards and service level agreements with various products
- Utilize various methods and technologies (i.e. AWS cloud technology, Java/JEE, JSON, Spring, Angular, Agile/DevOps delivery, API, JavaScript, C++ on Linux, Python, REST, XML, web services, HTML, Oracle and expanding mobile technologies)
- Some duties may be non-technical
Skills
- Be able to commit to working the entire summer internship program, May 11 – August 7, 2026 (13 weeks)
- Be willing to work from the Minneapolis St. Paul, MN (MSP) office. Most teams work a partially onsite / partially remote (hybrid) work schedule with management approval
- Have a 2.5 GPA or higher and have completed at least 2 years in a college program. Degree emphasis should be in Computer Science, Software Development, Systems/Industrial/Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Data Analytics/Operations Research, Cyber Security, Business Management or a related field
- Ideal candidates have strong analytical, leadership, written and verbal communication skills and a good work ethic
- Be able to accept diverse people, thinking and consistently make safety and security, of self and others, a priority
- Have an interest in solving complex problems and be willing to invest time and energy to overcome roadblocks
- Possess an awareness of cloud technology, Software Dev Lifecycles, and/or PC hardware components and/or maintenance
- Be able to conduct yourself in a mature manner and be comfortable working in a business casual work attire environment
- Have an interest in working as a full time employee after graduation if an offer is extended
- Ability to digest large amounts of data and information and succinctly explain what can be learned from the data and how it can support decision making
- Desire to learn leadership techniques and best practices in problem solving and conflict resolution to enable innovation and progress on difficult to solve challenges of our customers
- Have a passion for working on technologies such as Mobile apps, Enterprise Web apps, APIs, Messaging, Databases, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence
