The Manager, Trade Compliance is directly responsible for managing, planning and overseeing all aspects of trade compliance to achieve HFT’s financial, operational & strategic goals while maintaining compliance with all associated federal rules, regulations & supply chain security guidelines as relates to imported merchandise & export operations. They will partner closely with Global Sourcing, Category Management, Product Compliance, Quality Assurance, Legal, Security, and Transportation to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations of imported product as well as supply chain security guidelines (physical and procedural).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure all imported product and self-filer customs brokerage processes comply with all applicable rules and regulations
Provide cross-functional compliance guidance, critical information and insights, as well as support for all aspects of Imports/Exports regulatory compliance including, but not limited to, classification, anti-dumping, tariffs, country of origin determination, customs valuation, marking, labeling and transportation requirements including hazmat
Formalize and document processes for compliance
Track internal compliance through documentation and audits
Create a successful risk management environment
Ensure product classifications reflect proper compliance, accurate cost planning, and are accurately integrated and maintained in all related systems across the company
Mitigate costs and maximize positive impact through tariff exclusions—USTR exclusions process, proper exclusionary claims, post entry adjustments, and protests as applicable.
Review and continuously improve internal procedures and audits to retain status in Importer self-assessment CTPAT Trade Compliance program annually
Continuously improve global supply security initiatives across all functional groups for Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program collaborating with Corporate Social Responsibility as necessitated and complete annual security profile
Determine which products require binding rulings requests and scope inquiries through Department of Commerce and prepare requests/inquiries
Keep updated on all US Customs and other government agency compliance changes in regulations
Read, analyze and interpret complex documents

Requirements
Job Qualifications – Education and Experience
Customs Broker license required
Minimum of 6-8 years’ experience in relevant field (customs brokerage and importer preferred) including minimum of 3-5 years in a management role
B.A./B.S. in business, global logistics, or other related studies
Knowledge of Customs and Other Government agency Regulations, Harmonized Tariff classifications, and Customs Entry Process
Proficient knowledge of customs compliance as well as other government agency regulatory import/export requirements
Ability to create and design systems to increase overall efficiency
High business acumen, leadership, communication, analytical and project management skills
Ability to participate as a team-member as well as leader in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment
Physical Requirements
