Job Description:
• Encourages productivity and quality within the billing department
• Reviews documentation and assigns appropriate ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes
• Assigns appropriate primary diagnosis after deciding what was chiefly responsible for the encounter
• Assigns appropriate modifiers according to guidelines
• Finalizes the appropriate data for accounts
• Posts the correct CPT, ICD 10 and HCPCS codes
• Assists Billing and Coding Manager in training new employees
• Completes periodic coder audits
• Clarifies documentation or diagnosis by communicating with the physician
• Meets Ideal Options core values of efficiency and accuracy
• Maintains knowledge of current coding rules and trends
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Typing speed of 60 words per minute or more
• General knowledge regarding use of office equipment
• Proficient in Microsoft product suite and Internet
• Knowledge of chemical dependency and its effects on individuals, families, and communities is required.
• Minimum one-year experience with physician coding.
• Experience with personal computers (word processing and/or electronic spreadsheets).
• Must obtain AAPC Credential: CPC or CPC-A.
