Physician Advisor

Job Summary Each year, MedSchoolCoach supports thousands of pre-medical and medical students as they pursue admission to medical school and residency programs. As a Physician Advisor, you will serve as the primary academic and admissions advisor for a cohort of students, guiding them through every stage of the application process. In this role, you are responsible for delivering high-quality advising, overseeing the development of application materials, and ensuring students submit polished, competitive applications. You will collaborate closely with writing advisors and other team members while maintaining ownership over your students’ overall strategy and progress. This position is ideal for physicians who are passionate about mentorship, high-stakes admissions, and helping students reach their full potential. Responsibilities • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned pre-medical and/or medical student applicants • Provide comprehensive advising on medical school and/or residency applications • Conduct one-on-one advising sessions and provide strategic guidance tailored to each student • Collaborate with writing advisors on brainstorming, drafting, and editing personal statements, activities descriptions, and secondary essays • Review and provide final approval on key application materials prior to submission • Develop strategic school lists aligned with each student’s profile and goals • Conduct mock interviews and deliver actionable, constructive feedback • Monitor student progress to ensure timelines and quality standards are met • Respond to student communications in a timely and professional manner • Participate in webinars, content creation, or outreach initiatives as needed Qualifications • MD or DO degree from a U.S. medical school • Deep familiarity with the medical school admissions and/or residency match process • Prior experience serving on an admissions committee (strongly preferred) • Demonstrated experience mentoring students or trainees • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Comfort working independently while collaborating with a distributed team • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Zoom, Gmail, Google Meet, and related communication tools Preferred Clinical Backgrounds (Not Required) We are especially interested in physicians with backgrounds in: • Dermatology • Psychiatry • Neurology • Radiology • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) • Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) • General Surgery • Emergency Medicine Physicians from other specialties are also encouraged to apply.
