About the Role Talus Group Holdings is a private equity firm that acquires and builds service-sector businesses. Our Accounting & Audit Support function embeds directly into portfolio companies post-acquisition to build financial infrastructure, maintain books, and prepare operations for a permanent accounting team. This is a hands-on, high-variety role that will expose you to the full arc of a PE-backed company's early financial life. The Portfolio Accounting Manager will work directly under the Senior Director of Accounting & Audit, supporting active portfolio company embeds across bookkeeping, month-end close, and controller-level accounting. You will be a key contributor from day one, managing day-to-day accounting operations for multiple entities simultaneously while helping build the processes and systems that outlast the embed.  What You'll Do  - Maintain accurate books for 2-4 portfolio companies at a time, spanning industries including facilities services, outdoor recreation, food distribution, and other services verticals - Own the month-end close process for assigned entities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation - Support GAAP compliance and technical accounting application under ASC guidance relevant to acquisition accounting, revenue recognition, and operating company reporting - Assist in building and documenting accounting processes, internal controls, and chart of account structures at newly acquired companies - Prepare workpapers and support materials for annual audits and lender reporting - Work across accounting platforms including QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based tools as required by each portfolio company - Coordinate with portfolio company operators, external accountants, and auditors as directed - Support offboarding processes when a portfolio company transitions to its own Controller or accounting team  What We're Looking For  - 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a mix of bookkeeping and controller-level work - Strong command of GAAP; experience with acquisition accounting or PE-backed companies is a plus - Comfort working across multiple entities and switching context frequently - Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar small-business accounting platforms - High attention to detail and a self-starter mindset; this role requires someone who can operate with limited hand-holding once oriented - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required - Ability to work in a fast-moving environment where processes are often being built, not inherited  What Makes This Role Unique  - Broad exposure across industries and company lifecycles that most mid-level accountants don't see until they're much further along - Direct mentorship from a Senior Director of Accounting & Audit with deep PE platform experience - Opportunity to build, not just maintain, giving you a portfolio of work product you genuinely own - No two months look the same  Compensation & Location The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
