Job Description Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet-related computer programs. Code may be used in commercial or end-user applications, such as materials management, financial management, HRIS, mobile apps or desktop applications products. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. Join us and be part of a team that not just changing healthcare but changing lives.  Job Role Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer – Java Full Stack to lead the design and development of scalable, high‑performance enterprise applications. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role requiring deep technical expertise, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to influence engineering best practices across teams. The ideal candidate is passionate about building robust systems, mentoring engineers, and solving complex problems in a fast‑paced, Agile environment. Key Responsibilities - Lead end‑to‑end design and development of full‑stack applications using Java and modern frontend frameworks - Architect scalable, secure, and high‑availability systems using microservices and cloud‑native patterns - Drive technical standards, coding best practices, and architectural decisions across teams - Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services using Spring Boot / Java - Build responsive, performant UIs using React / Angular / modern JavaScript frameworks - Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability - Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, QA, DevOps, and Security teams - Review code, guide refactoring efforts, and mentor senior and mid‑level engineers - Actively contribute to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation - Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root‑cause analysis Required Qualifications - 8–12+ years of professional software development experience with Java full‑stack systems - Strong expertise in:- Java (8+), Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate/JPA - REST APIs, Microservices Architecture - Frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar - JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 - Solid experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.) - Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS) - Strong understanding of:- Distributed systems - System design & scalability - Object‑Oriented Design (OOD) and design patterns - Experience working in Agile / SAFe Agile environments - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience Eligibility Video Camera Usage: Availity fosters a collaborative and open culture where communication and engagement are central to our success.  As a remote first company, we are also camera-first and provide all associates with camera/video capability to simulate the office environment.
