Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Telemetry
Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
Shift: Nights – 3x12 (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
Ratios: 1:4–5
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced MS/Telemetry RN to care for adult patients with complex neurological and stroke-related conditions in a high-acuity setting. This role requires strong neuro and telemetry competency, adherence to stroke care guidelines, and the ability to manage patients with post-surgical and medical complications.
Patient Population
• Embolic & hemorrhagic strokes
• Epileptic & non-epileptic seizures
• Spinal cord injuries
• Traumatic brain injuries
• Pre/post neurosurgical patients:
• Shunt revisions
• Tumor removals
• Craniotomies / Cranioplasties
• Heparin is the sole IV drip used on the unit
• Stroke care follows AHA guidelines for Comprehensive Stroke Center standards
Required Certifications
• Active South Carolina RN License or Multistate License (Pending license not accepted)
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience required
Required Experience
• Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele experience
• Strong neurological care background
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Rapid Response Team participation
Required Clinical Skills
Vascular & IV Skills:
• Peripheral IV insertion and care
• Accessing ports
• PICC & central line management
• Blood product administration
Respiratory Skills:
• High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Nasal cannula
• Tracheostomy management
Cardiac Monitoring:
• Remote telemetry
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Neurological Care:
• CVA management
• Spinal cord injury care
• Traumatic brain injury
• Pre/post neurosurgical care
Additional Competencies:
• Feeding tube care
• PCA management
• Heparin protocols
• Continuous bladder irrigation
• Isolation precautions
• Surgical drain management
