The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) is an independent scientific organization dedicated to developing quality standards for medicines and public health. The Associate Hazard Communication Regulatory Compliance Specialist will assist in the preparation of Safety Data Sheets and ensure compliance with OSHA standards, contributing to the mission of advancing public health standards.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of senior staff, research toxicological, chemical, and physical properties of USP chemical products to determine acute and chronic human health hazards, physical hazards relating to fire and accidental release, and hazards to the environment and create safety data sheets and labels
- Provide Handling Categories, potency evaluations, and any other requested safety information to USP staff and customers as required by law and as requested
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or sciences-related discipline
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially the ability to communicate in a fast-paced, time-sensitive team environment
- Ability to research, think critically, analyze conflicting data, and evaluate information sources
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and able to work independently as well as an effective team member
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel) and database experience
- Knowledge of toxicology, industrial hygiene, hazard and risk communication, and chemical regulation
