Responsibilities
• Conduct consultations with individuals seeking legal advice related to asylum and deportation matters
• Explain eligibility standards, evidentiary requirements, risks, and timelines in clear language
• Provide practical recommendations regarding next steps
• Manage expectations and communicate decisions with professionalism and clarity
• Provide legal guidance
• Conduct risk analysis based on current law and agency guidance
• Make informed decisions regarding case acceptance within the pro bono framework
• Help establish intake criteria and consultation standards
• Collaborate with operations and leadership to ensure compliance and quality control
• Support the development of structured workflows for the pro bono practice
Skills
• Active membership in good standing with the Arizona Bar (required)
• Minimum 3+ years of experience practicing immigration law, with extensive asylum and deportation experience
• Demonstrated experience handling or advising on these matters
• Strong consultation skills and ability to assess cases efficiently and accurately
• Working knowledge of evidentiary standards, country conditions analysis, and credibility considerations
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Comfortable working in a remote environment with autonomy
