Who We Are/What We Do/Why We Do It
We’re a 501c3 with a very short window of time to purchase an ideal property that will allow us to create a one of a kind unique opportunity that will simultaneously provide housing & job training, along with life skills. Residents will be able to maintain stable housing by remaining a resident after completing their job training. The goal is to provide stability and consistency and on-going support while they are navigating this new normal of being employed with an income.
We do this because too often only one or two components of giving someone tools to shift their lives are provided. When in actuality the whole person needs to be supported in order to set them up for success long term; housing, training, food, medical, counseling, financial and life skills, and employment.
Senior Contract Grant Writer
We are seeking a Senior Grant Writer with non profit experience, ideally with experience with the unhoused and training programs, because we trust you’ll bring experience, strengths, and opinions that will allow us to look more broadly at how to engage donors (grants, philanthropists, …).
Because of the current state of grants/federal funds, our inclination is to initially approach Foundations and individuals. And because of the time component being critical, we foresee this happening in stages. Initially getting a few Letters of Intent that will convert to donations for the acquisition of the property and then additional donors to fund the rehab of the building. The third phase would be sponsors/donors for the classrooms, training facilities/tools, … we have identified more than a dozen sponsorship opportunities and more than a dozen on-going revenue streams thereafter.
The Skills & Experience you’ll bring to the team:
Proven skills in Grant Writing and Proposal Writing; the ability to write in such a manner that allows the donor to visualize the program, property, and objectives and become as passionate as we are about this venture.
Grant Writing and Proposal Writing resulting in combined fundraising of 3M plus.
Experience identifying potential funding opportunities.
Passion for the unhoused and employment training a plus.
Conversation (aka Interview) Process:
We learn more about each other when we approach this from a non-transactional perspective. Let’s engage, ask each other questions, determine if this is mutually beneficial, and then decide on next steps.
Ideally, our first conversation would occur within 1-2 days of engaging with one another, followed by 1-2 more conversations within an additional 1-2 days. Timing is critical for us AND we also want to team up with a Grant Writer who aligns with our mission.
