We're a digital marketing agency specializing in Shopify SEO for eCommerce brands. We manage SEO performance across ~18 client projects with a tight, experienced team. We're at a point where we need a leader to take ownership of SEO delivery, strategy, and client communication so the founder can step out of day-to-day operations.
About the Role
This is a full-time remote position. You will be the person accountable for whether our clients' SEO is working: rankings, traffic, and revenue. You'll lead project managers, run client strategy calls, QA all SEO work, and step into execution when performance stalls. This is not a support role. You own outcomes.
We need someone who can make decisions without waiting for direction, communicate clearly with clients, and raise the standard of SEO across the company.
Responsibilities
• Own SEO performance (rankings, organic traffic, revenue) across ~18 eCommerce projects, primarily on Shopify
• Lead 10+ monthly client calls as the primary strategic contact
• Manage and mentor 2 SEO project managers. Provide feedback, strategic direction, and development
• QA keyword research, collection page strategy, site architecture, on-page optimization, internal linking, and technical SEO
• Identify underperforming projects and take corrective action without being asked
• Step into complex SEO execution when projects are stuck or declining
• Coordinate with our Google Ads partner on shared accounts to align SEO and paid strategy
• Contribute to process improvement, SOPs, and internal systems over time
Qualifications
• 8+ years of SEO experience, with meaningful eCommerce exposure
• Experience being accountable for performance outcomes (traffic, rankings, revenue) — not just task completion
• Proven ability to lead or mentor other SEOs or project managers
• Comfortable running client calls independently and explaining SEO performance clearly
• Strong working knowledge of: Shopify, Google Search Console, rank tracking tools (Keyword.com or similar), Screaming Frog, Ahrefs or SEMrush
• Able to operate in ambiguity — you make decisions without needing step-by-step SOPs
• Familiarity with Asana, Slack, and Google Drive for team coordination
This role is NOT a fit if:
• You need detailed instructions before taking action
• You've only executed SEO work, never owned results across a portfolio
• You're uncomfortable leading conversations with clients
• You prefer to specialize in a single SEO discipline rather than lead across all of them
Compensation
$50,000–$60,000 USD annually, based on experience. Performance-based bonuses tied to client growth and retention. Compensation grows as the company grows.
