Position Overview
As a Sr Software Engineer- Java FullStack, you will play a critical role in defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast-paced and agile development environment. You will provide technical leadership to an agile team of 5-7, driving increased efficiency and eliminating duplication. Your expertise in Java, Spring boot, and Data science, AI/ML implementations will be essential in delivering high-quality products that meet our clients' needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and evolve software in a fast-paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
- Provide technical leadership to an agile team of 5-7, mentoring and guiding team members to achieve their full potential
- Utilize your expertise in Java, Spring boot, and Data science, AI/ML implementations to drive innovation and deliver high-quality products
- Translate requirements/vision into prioritized lists of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
- Drive increased efficiency across teams, eliminating duplication and leveraging product and technology reuse
- Support process improvements that guide development, sustaining, and support activities
- Work cross-functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables
- Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
- Ensure the team receives consistent messages and has a clear understanding of business direction, strategy, and results
- Engage subject matter experts in the successful transfer of complex domain knowledge
- Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring, and Testing Techniques
- Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
- Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
- Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using the technology chosen
- Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with advanced experience
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring boot, and Data science, AI/ML implementations
- Hands-on experience with Angular/React and strong JavaScript, TypeScript, and UI tech stack
- Experience working in an agile development environment and familiarity with SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring, and Testing Techniques
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and contribute to the immediate team and other teams across the business
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Master's Degree/Ph.D. in Computer Science
- Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux-based programming
- Experience working on software projects in the Energy domain (Energy Management, Oil & Gas, Power & Water)
- Certified Scrum Master and/or Product Owner
- Demonstrated initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
- Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements, and estimating efforts
- Demonstrated awareness of competitors and industry trends
- Ability to analyze the impact of technology choices
