The Parks Marketing and Outreach Student Intern 2 supports Wayne County Parks in promoting programs, events, and park amenities to the community. This internship provides hands-on experience in marketing, communications, community engagement, and event promotion while helping increase awareness and participation in parks and recreation services.
Responsibilities
Required Tasks:
- Assist in developing and implementing marketing campaigns for parks programs, events, and initiatives.
- Create content for social media platforms, newsletters, and the department website.
- Design flyers, posters, and promotional materials for community distribution.
- Help coordinate outreach efforts to schools, community groups, and local organizations.
- Assist with promotion and support of community events, festivals, and recreational programs.
- Collect photos and videos at parks and events for marketing use.
- Conduct basic research on marketing trends, community engagement strategies, and comparable park systems.
- Help maintain marketing calendars and outreach contact lists.
- Track and report engagement metrics (social media reach, attendance numbers, etc.).
- Provide general administrative support to the Parks & Recreation team as needed.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university program, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Recreation Management, or a related field.
Experience Requirements:
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok).
- Basic graphic design skills using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms preferred.
- Photography or video editing experience preferred
- Event planning or outreach experience preferred
