The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of affordable housing development and rehabilitation projects, ensuring they stay on schedule, within budget, and comply with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing affordable housing development projects from inception to completion
- Support due diligence, feasibility analysis, and project underwriting
- Maintain project schedules, track key milestones, and coordinate with internal and external teams
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and stakeholders
- Assist in preparing financing applications (LIHTC, HOME, CDBG, HUD, etc.)
- Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and support financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations
- Work with legal and compliance teams to manage funding agreements and contracts
- Communicate with government agencies, lenders, investors, and community partners
- Support general contractors, architects, and consultants in project execution
- Assist in securing permits, entitlements, and approvals
- Monitor construction progress, attend site visits, and assist in resolving project issues
- Coordinate with property management teams to ensure smooth project handover
- Support sustainability initiatives, energy efficiency measures, and green building standards
Skills
- Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and support multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with proformas, budgets, and affordable housing finance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to anticipate issues, troubleshoot challenges, and find creative solutions
- Strong analytical skills to review contracts, financials, and regulatory documents
- Experience with Microsoft Office, project management tools, and affordable housing software
- 1-4 years of experience
