Key Responsibilities
As an Instructional Paraprofessional, your primary goal will be to support the teacher in providing high-quality educational experiences for students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of students within all school and community environments.
- Maintaining student confidentiality and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
- Collaborating with teachers and other educational professionals to develop and implement educational plans tailored to the needs of individual students.
- Working with students in various settings, including one-on-one, small groups, and whole class environments, to support their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Assisting in the monitoring of student progress, including data collection, assessment, and communication of student information to teachers and administrators.
- Supporting the maintenance of discipline and order in the classroom, using behavior management strategies as directed by the teacher.
- Performing routine tasks such as record-keeping, preparing materials for lessons, and operating multimedia equipment.
- Supervising and monitoring student interactions during non-instructional activities, such as recess, lunch, and field trips.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet one of the following educational requirements: an associate degree or higher with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from an accredited institution, 60 college credits from an accredited institution, or a score of 459 or higher on the ParaPro Test.
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday and use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical needs of students.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with children in varied settings.
- Knowledge of behavior management procedures.
- Proficiency in software applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
- Understanding of accommodations for special education students.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a second language, if required by assignment.
