About the position
Bloomsbury’s Academic department is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support two Acquisitions Editors in achieving agreed revenue and profitability targets for their editor/list in the areas of Religious Studies, Theology, and Linguistics. This role is responsible for managing and delivering key date targets for the list/editors, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting colleagues within the department.
Responsibilities
• Manage and deliver the agreed key date targets for the list
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with authors, volume editors, and series editors to ensure a high standard of author care throughout the publishing process.
• Keep the publishing program on schedule through regular liaison with authors and by maintaining and updating the frontlist plan.
• Prepare scripts for handover to production, meeting agreed standards and schedules.
• Set up new titles on Biblio and ensure all project changes are updated promptly and in line with key dates.
• Commission peer reviews as requested by the manager; ensure timely delivery of reviews; record the progress of all projects under review.
• Prepare contract offers for new projects when directed by the acquisitions editor and with their guidance.
• Prepare contributor contracts, ensuring timely return and correct filing.
• Prepare cover briefs, cover copy, and brief cover designs where required.
• Support editors in managing the backlist and identifying potential new editions.
• Liaise closely with production and marketing to ensure they receive required information in line with key dates.
• Provide basic reports and sales information.
• Complete pro forma and book orders.
