Key Responsibilities
Our job responsibilities are broken down into two main sections: Bookkeeping and Enrolled Agent (EA). We understand that candidates may not have all the skills in each description, but we're looking for individuals with a strong foundation in both areas.
Enrolled Agent Responsibilities
As an Enrolled Agent, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Filing personal and business tax returns for approximately 50-75 small business owners.
- Reviewing profit and loss statements for clients each quarter to:
- Provide updated quarterly tax estimates.
- Adjust owner payroll amounts to coincide with business growth.
- Suggest 401k or Roth IRA contributions.
- Guide LLC clients on when they should make S-Corp elections.
- Monitoring and providing feedback to the bookkeeping team on their work.
- Attending all onboarding calls with newly assigned clients.
- Managing client to-do items and keeping detailed client notes in task management software.
- Responding to client questions and requests via email within one business day.
- Responding to questions and inquiries from the bookkeeping team.
- Attending Zoom calls with individual clients throughout the year to answer questions and provide tax guidance.
- Helping build and document processes related to the position.
Bookkeeping Responsibilities
As a full-charge bookkeeper, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Managing the financial bookkeeping for our clients, including entering financial information, analyzing financial activities, ensuring client compliance, and creating monthly reporting.
- Handling bank and general ledger reconciliations, as well as payroll processing.
- Maintaining historical records by filing documents.
- Maintaining knowledge of current federal, state, and local legal requirements, ensuring adherence to them, filing reports, and communicating with management on needed actions.
- Tracking fixed assets to produce depreciation schedules.
- Producing the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of income and cash flows.
- Executing accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, such as collections.
- Ensuring correct and punctual monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
Essential Qualifications:
- US work authorization (required).
- 5 years of tax preparation experience (required).
- PTIN (required).
- 3 years of bookkeeping experience (required).
- 3 years of experience with QuickBooks (required).
- Experience working as an EA and bookkeeper for multiple companies simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience working in a remote office environment.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Prior payroll experience.
- GAAP knowledge.
