Job Summary

The Environmental Services (EVS) Associate is a vital member of our team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our facilities. This role is not just about cleaning; it's about contributing to the healing process, preventing the spread of infections, and providing a comfortable and safe environment for everyone. As an EVS Associate, you will be working full-time in the evenings, with the flexibility of a remote work arrangement, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining a Clean and Safe Environment: Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas according to schedules and specific methods to ensure a sanitary, orderly, and safe patient care environment.
• Biohazard Disposal: Properly dispose of biohazards according to EPA and OSHA codes and regulations, ensuring the safe handling of environmental contaminants.
• Equipment and Supply Management: Maintain equipment, clean carts, buckets, floor machines, and supply closets to give the hospital a professional appearance.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Compliance: Comply with established PPE requirements to protect against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, and other hazardous substances.
• Floor Care: Complete and maintain all carpet and hard surface flooring in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Safety Precautions: Observe safety precautions when pushing equipment and report any faulty mechanical, structural, or electrical problems.
• Customer Service: Engage with patients and visitors using scripting to establish dialogue and extend every possible courtesy, demonstrating high standards of conduct.
• Additional Tasks: Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and set-ups as requested, and respond to pages or phone calls in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
• 6 months to 1 year of experience in housekeeping or cleaning in a healthcare environment preferred but not required.
• Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and infection control practices.
