Job Overview
We are excited to offer a unique and rewarding opportunity for a Behavior Technician to work with students on the Autism Spectrum, ages 3-22, in a 1:1 setting. As a Behavior Technician, you will play a vital role in implementing programming, under the guidance of a consultant, to address Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals for each student. Key Responsibilities
- Apply the principles of behavior science to tutor students and effectively manage behaviors as needed
- Run data-driven practices as assigned, including implementing "Precision Teaching" and discrete-trial training
- Implement direct instruction programs and techniques, using explicit instruction as assigned
- Perform habit training duties and record accurate data
- Adhere to behavior management programs assigned to each student and arrange and maintain a safe and effective learning environment
- Submit all data and records by established deadlines
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in behavior science and a passion for working with students with autism. The following qualifications are essential:
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field, such as Special Education, Psychology, or Applied Behavioral Analysis
- Experience working with students with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders
- Strong understanding of behavior science principles and their application in a educational setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience with "Precision Teaching" and discrete-trial training
- Knowledge of explicit instruction techniques and direct instruction programs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience working in a special education setting or with students with autism
