Job Overview
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for coordinating the documentation required by US Customs and Government Organizations for the clearance of goods into the US. You will work closely with our clients, internal staff, and other FedEx operations to deliver an elevated level of service and ensure compliance with all global importing and exporting regulations. As a Customs Trade Coordinator, you will be the key point of contact for our clients, providing exceptional customer service and support to ensure their needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the documentation required by US Customs and Government Organizations for the clearance of goods into the US
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to our clients, responding to their queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Accurately classify products for customs clearance using databases, SOPs, tariff books, the web, or customs resources
- Process and handle various import-related documentation for submission to US Customs and Participating Government Agencies (PGAs)
- Maintain and update all shipment documentation in compliance with record-keeping requirements
- Comply with all global importing and exporting regulations, ensuring that our operations are aligned with the latest laws and regulations
- Work collaboratively with internal staff, departments, and other FedEx operations to deliver an elevated level of service to our clients
- Process organization business shipments and may handle remote filings
- Ensure that all service and organizational procedures are followed, and that our operations are aligned with the company's policies and procedures
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in the following areas:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- At least 6 months of work experience, preferably in a related field
- Data entry/console experience, with proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and other office equipment (telephone, fax, scanner, printer, copier)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, and management of all levels
- Organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and implement effective solutions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with a strong sense of self-motivation and discipline
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications will be highly regarded:
- Experience in customs brokerage, logistics, or a related field
- Knowledge of US Customs regulations and procedures
- Experience with automated brokerage systems and software
- Certification in customs brokerage or a related field
