About the Role: Data Scientist - Utilization Management
We're seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our Analytics & Behavior Change team, focusing on Utilization Management (UM). As a key member of our cross-functional team, you'll develop and implement cutting-edge analytics, data, and technology solutions to optimize UM operations and enhance the overall healthcare experience. This part-time remote opportunity offers a unique chance to work with a dynamic team and make a meaningful impact on the healthcare industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy Generative AI solutions to optimize Utilization Management in healthcare, driving improved patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Create and execute algorithms and predictive models to analyze complex problems, identify trends, and recommend data-driven solutions.
- Explore, examine, and translate large volumes of structured and unstructured data to inform business decisions and drive strategic growth.
- Perform in-depth analyses to solve complex business problems, leveraging advanced statistical techniques and mathematical analyses.
- Design and develop data systems and pipelines to organize, aggregate, and standardize data, enabling insights and addressing reporting needs.
- Utilize data visualization techniques to effectively communicate analytical results and support business decisions.
- Create and evaluate data needs for assigned projects, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Explore existing data sources and recommend additional resources to drive improvements and innovation.
- Document projects, including business objectives, data collection and processing, results, and analytical metrics.
Essential Qualifications
- 1+ year of applicable analytic experience in a related field, such as healthcare or finance.
- Proficiency in programming languages, such as R or Python, with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Experience working with SAS or SQL, with a strong understanding of data modeling and database design.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve issues and roadblocks as they arise.
- Proficiency in multiple areas of data modeling, machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, data engineering, and data visualization.
- Experience working with large datasets from multiple data sources, with a strong understanding of data integration and data governance.
- Familiarity with LLMs and Generative AI, with a strong understanding of their applications in healthcare.
- Master's degree in a related field, such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Business Analytics.

Compensation and Pay Range
The standard pay range for this position is $82,915.00 - $175,100.00, with an hourly rate of $25-35. The actual base salary offered will depend on a range of factors, including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. This role is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program.
