Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Entry Level/Junior Paralegal to join our Special Education Practice Group. This role will provide administrative support to our attorneys, assist with case management, and perform various tasks related to document preparation, filing, and communication with external agencies and clients. If you are a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive individual with a passion for law and a desire to learn and grow, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in all stages of their proceedings, including case management, document preparation, and filing.
- Perform administrative duties such as calendaring hearings, managing deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
- Prepare, organize, and file various documents with the New York Department of Education.
- Correspond with external agencies and clients through email and phone calls as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients and co-workers, and contribute to the self-directed team structure to assist with overflow and specialized tasks within guidelines set by the firm.
- Perform all other tasks or projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate.
- At least 1-2 years of professional experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Pro.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to be proactive and to identify and address problems quickly.
- Ability to maintain professionalism during external communications.
- Excellent clerical skills and knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- A professional workspace free of interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications
We prefer candidates with:
- Paralegal experience, particularly in the Special Education field.
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- A paralegal certificate.
