About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic faculty member to join our College of Arts & Sciences as a Lecturer in Biology (Neuroscience). This is a one-year renewable contract position with the potential for promotion to higher non-tenure-track ranks. As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate biology courses, including human anatomy and physiology, and developing scholarly research programs that engage undergraduates.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate biology courses, including human anatomy and physiology, in a dynamic and engaging manner.
- Develop and implement scholarly research programs that engage undergraduates in the field of neuroscience.
- Contribute to the development of the Biology program and participate in departmental and university-wide initiatives.
- Advise and mentor students in their academic and professional pursuits.
- Participate in departmental and university-wide service activities, including committee work and professional development.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field of biology and neuroscience.
Essential Qualifications
- PhD in Biology or a related field in the biological sciences (ABD considered).
- Significant teaching and post-doctoral experience in the field of biology and neuroscience.
- Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
- Ability to develop and implement scholarly research programs that engage undergraduates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching human anatomy and physiology courses.
- Experience with curriculum development and program assessment.
- Experience with grant writing and research funding.
- Experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
