Job Purpose
As an Outside Sales Representative, you'll be responsible for driving sales growth within your assigned territory. You'll provide value to customers with industry intelligence, technical expertise, and a deep knowledge of our products and services. Your ability to work quickly, honestly, and effectively to build relationships with your client base will be critical to your success. Reporting to the Sales Manager, you'll be an integral part of our sales team and contribute to our overall business growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Building and Sustaining Long-Term Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers to drive sales growth and expand our customer base.
- Face-to-Face Meetings: Travel within your territory to conduct face-to-face meetings with existing and potential customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Sales Targets: Continually meet or exceed sales targets by selling company products to new and existing customers.
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement an effective sales strategy to drive sales in your assigned territory.
- Accurate Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all leads, customer accounts, and sales to ensure seamless follow-up and to inform future sales strategies.
- Collaboration with Marketing: Work closely with the marketing team to expand brand presence through the creation of suitable marketing materials.
- Market Research: Research competitors' products and pricing, as well as market conditions, to stay ahead of the competition and identify new sales opportunities.
- Industry Insights: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments by attending meetings, training workshops, and industry events.
- Strategic Negotiation: Negotiate with potential and existing customers to close sales and drive revenue growth.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Consultative Sales Experience: A minimum of 3 years of outside sales experience selling packaging, or experience selling into the food, pet food, or coffee industries.
- Self-Motivation: Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and drive sales growth.
- Microsoft Systems: Experience using Microsoft systems, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- CRM Systems: Knowledge of CRM systems and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Friendly and Outgoing Demeanor: A friendly and outgoing personality to build strong relationships with clients.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideally, you'll have:
- Existing Client Base: An existing book of clientele in the flexible packaging industry, specifically in the food service, food manufacturing, pet food, coffee, or nutraceutical industries.
