Key Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Pharmacy Technician with Walgreens, you will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy operations and providing exceptional patient care. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting pharmacists with pharmacy operations, including patient and medication data entry, and solution preparation
- Providing a positive customer experience by greeting patients, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
- Modeling and promoting Walgreens' service standards, including a warm and welcoming demeanor, active listening, and a commitment to customer satisfaction
- Performing tasks as assigned by the pharmacy director, staff pharmacist, and senior supervisor, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and medication data, and filling solutions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications
- Reporting and resolving medication errors to the working pharmacist and adhering to Walgreen Co. policies and procedures
- Ensuring accurate and timely processing of sales transactions, including collecting and handling cash, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Handling calls that do not require individual attention from the pharmacist, including those to doctors and other healthcare providers
- Processing manual claims for third-party program solution services in a timely and efficient manner, and performing other administrative tasks as assigned
- Supporting the pharmacy division with stock management activities, including ordering, unloading, checking, and storing shipments of medications
- May assist pharmacists with clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine tests from patients and other clinical services as required
- Supporting the pharmacy director and staff pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local healthcare community, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers
- Supporting outside and internal support by ensuring the pharmacy division is stocked with sufficient supplies, clean, neat, and systematic in appearance
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., pharmacy, healthcare, business)
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, customers, and healthcare professionals
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Basic computer skills, with the ability to learn and use pharmacy systems and software
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- At least six months of experience in a retail or healthcare environment
- Previous experience working with Walgreens or in a similar pharmacy setting
- Strong numerical skills, with the ability to accurately count, measure, and weigh medications
- Excellent computer skills, with the ability to learn and use pharmacy systems and software
- Knowledge of store stock control and inventory management
