About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Remote Content Protection Specialist to join our team, working on the development and implementation of content protection solutions for Disney's entertainment technology and distribution platforms. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the evaluation of distribution solutions, reviewing content protection provisions in contracts, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of content protection solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the evaluations of distribution solutions, including streaming video solutions, broadcast systems, IPTV middleware platforms, and physical media, to ensure the effective protection of Disney's content.
- Review content protection provisions in contracts for content Disney acquires for its channels, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Lead the evaluations of content protection solutions and architectures, including watermarking, fingerprinting, conditional access, DRM, and encryption schemes, to stay ahead of emerging threats and technologies.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including the Content Protection team and Platform Operations, to ensure the successful delivery of content protection solutions and to build relationships with key vendors for DRM, CAS, and geofiltering.
- Lead UHD content protection discussions and review any security incidents, working with clients and internal teams to put together a plan to resolve and prevent future incidents.
- Work closely with key clients to ensure that Disney can enable deals, staying in touch before a deal is commercially negotiated to ensure an understanding of the systems they have in place.
- Build relationships with key vendors and stakeholders, including device manufacturers, platform operators, and content providers, to stay informed about emerging trends and technologies.
- Lead the first review of the Technical Questionnaire and follow up with platforms for further questions, ensuring that all technical requirements are met and that content protection is not holding up deals.
- Review and feedback on Content Security Schedule comments received from clients and Disney Legal teams, ensuring that all comments are addressed and that content protection is compliant with industry standards and best practices.
Essential Qualifications
- Comprehensive and significant experience in TV Distribution/Post Production/Technology, with a strong commercial, technical, and consumer understanding of digital media.
- In-depth knowledge of Television broadcast technology, including DTH, Cable, IPTV, DTT, and OTT distribution, as well as devices capable of receiving broadcast or streamed video.
- Good understanding of encryption systems, including industry-standard Conditional Access and Digital Rights Management systems, and familiarity with streaming technologies.
- Familiarity with distribution business models, such as linear, VOD, and EHVL, and a solid understanding of the legal process and documentation of distribution deals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment, with a strong ability to self-motivate and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with databases and structured data, as well as experience with project management tools and software.
- Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in content protection, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, and a strong desire to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including legal, technical, and business stakeholders, and a strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with others.
